BM4841601: 484-1601 Nakamura AXIS, KnifeCenter Exclusive
The Nakamura is a beautiful gentleman's tactical folder and one we think so highly of at the KnifeCenter, we had to bring in an exclusive of our own. At just under four inches closed, it is very comfortable in the pocket. The M390 stainless steel coupled with AXIS lock functionality and contoured stabilized wood handles with stainless liners, makes this a top US-made folder in our book! A unique tool steel, M390 is an Austrian powdered steel with a uniform micro-structure that provides superior levels of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance, making this steel one of the most well-rounded premium steels in the world. The contoured stabilized wood handles are extremely ergonomic and the grooves lock your fingers in for a superb grip. It offers great looks with the addition of the orange barrel spacers/pivot rings and is exceptionally strong for its minimal weight. The 484-1601 Nakamura AXIS by Benchmade Knives brings the best of both worlds to the KnifeCenter: detailed design and functional strength.

Simply Outstanding
I’ve always wanted a 484 and had a tough choice between this and the S90V model, but the materials and orange accents won me over. It’s definitely more on the gentlemanly side, but thanks to its materials and solid build, it can easily tackle more strenuous tasks. The M390 blade has a light stonewash finish and is gorgeous (and was perfectly centered right out of the box). The thumb studs are a bit rough, but I adapted to them quickly. My particular model has uneven grinds, too, but that can be corrected. The jimping is incredible — your thumb won’t be going anywhere. The blade deploys like a dream, either with your thumb or a flick, and the lockup sound is amazing (as is the lockup itself). The handles are incredibly ergonomic. I can see how people that bought the G10 version of this knife might have gripes with the deep scale grooves, but the smaller, shallower grooves on this model are just right. The wood scales are lovely; they’re slick and smooth, but the finger and scale grooves account for that well. The handle is similar in length to a mini griptilian, so this might not be right for you if you have larger hands. But if you can comfortably hold a mini-grip, then this would work well for you. The handle thickness is great, too — I read some comments that it’s too thick, but it “fills in” your hand well when you’re holding it. Of course, the arrow pocket clip isn’t my favorite and will be replaced. The orange pivot collar and barrel spacers add just the right amount of pop. Overall, it’s a great addition to my EDC and won’t be leaving my pocket anytime soon. It’s a joy to flick open and close, with the Axis lock wearing in nicely. Definitely recommend this one if you’re at all interested in a Nakamura.

Giggidy giggidy goo (484-1601)
My wife purchased this for me as a belated Father's Day gift and it arrived today (awesome shipping by KnifeCenter). Even though I knew this was a small knife, I was still a little surprised when I opened the box. My surprise in its smallness was quickly replaced by my shock in its fit and finish. The word scales are stunningly beautiful. Even though the handle is small, it's shockingly comfortable to my medium sized hands. I think this knife might be more comfortable than my BM 551-1304. The orange pillars and pivot collar match the scales beautifully. The blade came centered but a bit tight. Made some micro adjustments to the pivot and it's now perfect. I couldn't be happier with this new blade. I haven't even used it yet and I think this is going to be my new favorite EDC. Incredible job Benchmade! And great customer service KnifeCenter. You just won a new customer.
