Doug Ritter's RSK Mk5 (Ritter Survival Knife) is not a knife you would use all day for normal work tasks. But, based on Doug's philosophy that "if it isn't with you, it can't save you," it is compact and light enough to fit in almost any small personal survival kit or stash-away location, yet robust enough that it's a knife you can bet your life on.

Doug is the founder of the Equipped To Survive website and an international authority on survival equipment. The RSK Mk5 is a collaborative effort based on Georgia knifemaker David White's custom Shrewd Survival Knife, itself the result of collaboration with Dr. Andrew Osbourne.

Weighing in at less than an ounce, the skeletonized fixed blade sports a 1.75" wide-chord drop-point blade with a high flat grind. The high-carbon steel blade has Doug's preferred stonewashed finish for improved corrosion resistance.

The ergonomic curved handle provides a secure and comfortable two-finger grip while a nylon lanyard with cord-lock adds additional length which adjusts to fit your hand.

Use it to make fuzz sticks, construct shelter, gut a fish, dress game or for self-defense. Whether it is wilderness or urban survival, the Mk5 will do its part to keep you alive and kicking.

Includes a custom-fitted glass filled nylon sheath and a mint-size carrying tin along with Doug's suggestions for building up your own personal survival kit.

A Great Last Ditch Piece of Kit
For the money, this knife is unbeatable as a last ditch blade. It will fit into an Altoids tin even with the sheath on, and said sheath has quite good retention. The edge sharpen's very quickly and holds an edge well against wood and other natural materials. I keep a 20' piece of #6 tarred nylon bankline in my Altoids tin kit specifically to make a larger handle for this knife. I tested my own by using a piece of deadfall to baton a piece of inch thick Willow and then to split one end. I popped the blade I to the split and lashed it down, fore and aft. Tied tightly, it holds up amazingly well and has almost zero play. I've used the knife in that configuration to process fatwood, scrape a ferro rod, and carve a try-stick. It was a surprisingly easy process and the blade proved very handy.

Nice survival tin knife
Purchased this knife for its ability to fit in an Altoids tin. The knife actually comes packed in a CRKT tin of the same size. The blade is sharp and useful for its size.

Cons: Handle Material
Great edge and holds it well.
Had to add a paracord lanyard for a better grip but it's very light and useful as a neck knife. I was going to keep it in a small kit but I've ended up wearing on any outdoor event.
