CS11HXVB: 11HXVB Hold Out I, Coyote Tan
Cold Steel
The Hold Out has fast become one of Cold Steel President Lynn C. Thompson's favorite folding knives.

Ideal for military and law enforcement personnel, or just law abiding citizens who may find themselves in harm's way, the Hold Out series provide the comfort and peace of mind that comes from carrying a high performance folder but in an astoundingly lightweight and easy to carry package.

Ounce for ounce, they may well be the strongest folding knives in the industry! Their beautiful, minimalist design is a wonder of functionality; while deceptively simple in appearance, they represent a huge array of design breakthroughs and a staggering amount of performance!

The Hold Out's beautiful satin polished blades are extremely broad; they are flat ground from the spine, with a shallow "V" cross-section culminating in a razor sharp hand-honed edge. Continuously curved from the heel to the needle-sharp tip, the blade cuts and shears through tough and fibrous material with ease and makes short work of tasks that would challenge many of the folding knives on the market today.

Its American G10 handle is a wonder of ergonomic design. Allowing a full and secure four-finger grip. It is wonderfully secure in hand and will not roll or twist with use. The grip enhancing G10 and handle holes further aid traction in a wide range of grips, working equally well tip up, down in an "ice pick" grip or even held like a push dagger!

Incredibly thin and flat, with an ambidextrous pocket clip designed for deep carry, even the largest of the Hold Out series is easily concealed in a pocket, clipped into a waistband or tucked into a boot. The blade and handle geometry and the positioning of the Tri-Ad lock in the Hold Outs came together perfectly. Working together to create a knife whose strength versus weight ratio stunned even our own research and development team!

We believe that the Hold Out may well represent the future of multi-functional, high performance every day carry knives.

Great Slicer
Bought this knife intending to use it for picnics, and because it's XHP steel. The blade is flat ground from spine to edge, and distal tapered from pivot to tip. Out of the box, the edge sliced photocopier paper without tearing. The G10 handle scales were too aggressive for my taste so I took knife apart and smoothened them out with 220 grit sand paper. I can open this knife with one hand but needed both hands to close it - but I don't have a problem with that. Wish it had a sheath though. Knifecenter has a great deal on it now so get one before they are gone!

Home of the Whopper
I purchased this to gain a better feel for XHP. I have a Rawles Voyager in this steel. I really don't see much attraction beyond the steel and the bigness of this knife. It does carry easily in my pocket. The blades deploys without problems. It came with a defect in the blade. There was a palpable depression near the base of the blade, as if the person grinding it put too much pressure on it. It was not really visible without a Sharpie, but it leveled out without too much time or effort with my SharpMaker. If I had not got this on sale for $100, I probably would have been very disappointed; perhaps to the point of returning it. As it is, I really don't have any regrets, but I suspect it will be my EDLID.

Large and Awesome
I have numerous knives, mostly Cold Steel. I have wanted a Hold Out for some time. I prefer flat grind knives, and this seems to be made with good steel. I love G10 for pistol grips, and it works great for knife handles too. So when I saw the Hold Out was on deep discount because it is being discontinued (why, CS, why??) I figured I better get one now. I wanted the 4 inch plain blade, which was at an AWESOME price, and of course, it was sold out when I tried to order it. So I got this 6" blade instead. I like big blades, and this is BIG . It fits in my pocket, but only just. The only downside is it is so long, I can't open it one handed as I pull it out of my pocket. This is never been a problem with 4 " blades. That is my only complaint. Is it sharp? You bet! Sharpest knife I have (a benefit of size and flat grind. I'm getting another folder for every day use, will save this for self defense purposes. I have a bunch of knives, but only two folders. I seem to keep losing them. Gets expensive losing $100+ knives. Hope this one stays with me for a while. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS KNIFE!
