Jake Hoback Custom Knives
Jake Hoback is one of our favorite custom knifemakers here at the KnifeCenter, and the Kwaiback is his signature design. The only thing that was missing was a KC Exclusive variation featuring Jake's awesome Bedform finish. This unique milling pattern is practical, tactical, beautiful and subtle, thus we thought a perfect platform the for exclusive. Available in three colorful models, these stunning Kwaibacks were each hand-tuned by Jake and passed his stringent QC standards so you know you’re a perfect model.
Jake pulled out all the stops on this Kwaiback MK4 Ultra High-End Production mid-tech. It has all of the exact same features as his custom shop work. He didn't dumb down this knife nor use inferior materials or hardware. This knife will rival his customs for fit, finish, materials, and quality. Jake believes his hands-on approach helped immensely with this project. The machine shop matched and assembled the knives exactly as he would in his own shop because he was there with them every step of the way to show them how he expected it to be done. The final product is this amazing knife with the same feel as his custom at a great price.
The Kwaiback is Jake's favorite of his designs. It's the slimmest folder in his lineup simply due to its shape. The angular butt end of the knife Jake specifically designed to make it easier to get your hand into your pocket when the knife is clipped in. The 3.75" blade is made from sandblasted then stonewashed CPM-20CV stainless steel with a nice flat grind. The action is smooth and lightning fast thanks to pivot thrust bearings and Jake's own Hoback Roller Detent. This design puts a rolling ball into the detent which drastically reduces the friction while the blade is moving for better action. The bronze anodized handle is made from Bedform milled titanium with a slender, ergonomic shape and it completely hides the blade when closed. There is great jimping on the thumb ramp and near the butt end of the knife if you're using this blade in the reverse grip. It's a mid-tech technically, but it has all the feeling and looks of a full-on custom knife with a unique finish. Proudly made and hand-assembled by Jake in the USA.
A bedform is a feature that develops at the interface of fluid and a movable bed, the result of bed material being moved by fluid flow. Examples include ripples and dunes on the bed of a river. Bedforms are often preserved in the rock record as a result of being present in a depositional setting.
The Bedform finish is a culmination of several years of Jake's hard work in getting an elegant hard working finish onto his knives. He has found the Bedform finish to add a great deal of grip while not causing hotspots on the hand while working with the knife. Hoback knives are made with Hard Work in mind and Jake structures all facets of his knives with that in mind. From the engineered internal lightening pockets to the HRD (Hoback Rolling Detent) system, Hoback Custom Knives have and will continue to be on the forefront of design and innovation and this Bedform finish is only available from the KnifeCenter.

Semi-Custom or Mid-Tech knives are knives produced by a process in which the designer has more direct--but not complete--involvement; parts of these knives may still have been made by others.
Developed by Chris Reeve, it functions like a liner lock but the lock is comprised of one of the handle scales. It's an extremely strong and easy to manipulate lock.
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
A nonferrous metal, it's prized for its high strength to weight ratio and is often used on higher end knives.
This product is USA born and raised.
