SP195GPOR: C195GPOR Brad Southard Positron
Designed by custom knifemaker Brad Southard, the Spyderco Positron takes all the best features of a full-service flipper folder and distills them into a compact, pocket-friendly format optimized for everyday carry. A faithful expression of Southard's "Ion" folder, this KnifeCenter Exclusive Positron features a full-flat-ground satin plain edge blade crafted from premium CPM-S35VN particle-metallurgy stainless steel. Integral to the edge side of the blade, its minimalist flipper tab provides swift, reliable one-handed opening with the stroke of an index finger. In the open position, the flipper also serves as an extremely effective hand guard and a perfect complement to the handle's ergonomic lines.

The handle's twin scales are crafted from polished orange G10 that is precisely machined, radiused, and polished to create an amazingly comfortable grip. They also house the nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners that are the heart of the knife's sturdy liner lock mechanism. To ensure an ultra-smooth opening action, the Positron's blade and handle are joined by special ball bearing washers that greatly reduce friction and ensure a long service life. A reversible deep-pocket wire clip offers either left or right-side tip-up carry and strikes an excellent balance between subtle discretion and immediate access.

Cons: Lock Type, Handle Feel, Lock Ease of Use
Spyderco Positron Flipper
I use the knife for hiking and light EDC. The knife feels good in the hand and is very light. The S35VN blade come very sharp and looks great. The orange handle looks good and is easy to find if you drop it on the trail. The polished G10 is a little slick if it gets wet. The only real negative I have is the liner lock - it’s difficult to unlock with one hand closing. It’s hard to get a good purchase on it with your thumb.

Bearing system is.... interesting
I use this knife as a tradesman, having a steel that really just needs to be touched up once a week with heavy use has become crucial to me. The blade is excellent quality, and so are the scales. The bright orange is great when you drop you knife in the dirt or worse if your a plumber like me. The knife started binding after only two months. Upon taking it apart I found that the washers were deformed from debris getting between them and the inner liner. I gave it to my Pop who won’t care if he can’t deploy it with one hand.

Pretty and comfortable orange peeler
This is a nicely designed and well built EDC. It certainly lives up to the Spyderco name. For a small knife like this it's quite a thick one. That makes for a very comfortable grip when using it, once I removed the pocket-clip. Without it it fits in my hand exactly right and has no hotspots whatsoever. At first the flipper action seemed a bit gritty, but that feeling quickly disappeared after some use. Also the high-visibility orange colour not only does wonders for the price, it's starting to grow on me and can be very useful whenever you've misplaced it in the outdoors like at the campsite or fishingspot.
