SP41GPDBL5: C41GPDBL5 Native 5 Dark Blue G10
Spyderco

This expression of the Native 5 combines an ultra-high-performance CPM S110V blade with textured G10 handle scales in the signature dark blue color that characterizes Spyderco's elite S110V family of knives.

Since its original release in 1997, the Native has been a mainstay of the Spyderco product line and a flagship of Spyderco's American-made stable of knives. The design has evolved steadily over the years, reaching its current state-of-the-art in 2012 with the release of the Native 5. This addition to the Native lineage combines the Native 5's engineering refinements with dark blue G10 handles.

Proudly manufactured in Spyderco's factory in Golden, Colorado, the Native 5 features a spear point blade made from premium CPM-S110V stainless steel. Its full-flat grind, distal taper, textured index-finger choil and thumb ramp, and understated swedge collectively offer a distinctive appearance and outstanding edge geometry and point utility. The blade is supported by a highly refined back lock mechanism that takes this time-tested lock design and elevates it to a new standard of engineering and manufacturing excellence.

The G10 handle houses four sets of threaded inserts molded directly into the G10. These allow the improved hourglass clip to be positioned for left or right-side tip-up or tip-down carry. A generously sized lanyard hole also provides a handy attachment point for lanyards, fobs and safety lines.

A highly advanced evolution of a time-honored design, the Native 5 Lightweight is an incredibly capable, pocket-sized cutting tool and a shining example of Spyderco's commitment to making even our best products consistently better.

Pros: Pocket Clip, Overall Quality, Lock Ease of Use, Handle Feel, Lock Type, Ease of Opening, None
Cons: Weight
My favorite everyday workhorse
Great quality. Sturdy. Easy to use. Instills confidence. Perfect size for almost anything. Comfortable. My one minor issue is that it is slightly heavier than I would like. I wear it in my right front pocket. When I have on jeans or heavy shorts or slacks it is fine, but with lighter fabrics it pulls and become very noticeable by feeling uncomfortable and almost distorting the look of what I’m wearing. If I would have known better I would have gone with the lightweight FRN over the g-10. That said, I still love it.

Ho Hum
I am less impressed with this knife than I expected to be. If I compare it to the Delica 4 that is my main carry knife, this one feels more fat, bulky and heavy than the Delica 4, without having any additional advantages that result from the added heft.Yeah, it has fancier steel, and it is made in the USA, but the safe, where it spends most of its time, is little impressed.I'd go for the Delica 4 over the Native 5 in a heartbeat, any day of the week. It's not a bad knife, just for my purposes a less useful tool, in small ways, than the Delica 4.
