SP41SBBK5: C41SBBK5 Native 5
Spyderco

The original Native 5 was an evolution of refinements in knifemaking with a bold G-10 handle and nitrogen-hardened CPM-S35VN blade. The Native 5 Lightweight is the same knife but with FRN handles. The blade is serrated and flat ground with a weight reducing spine-swedge grind. CPM-S35VN is similarly structured to Crucible’s CMP-S30V but with the addition of niobium (columbium) carbides along with vanadium and chromium carbides. Niobium makes the steel tougher while enhancing resistance to wear and chipping and improves edge retention over basic smelted high-chromium steels. The Native 5’s back-lock embodies the steps of evolution in traditional back-locks. Back-locks were first introduced to the knife industry decades ago, transforming into more sophisticated, safer locks through improved manufacturing techniques. Today’s American made back-locks offer improved self-close, smooth action, solid lock-up and ease in push-release opening for a higher caliber of knife buyer in today’s market. Implementation of a new Bushing Pivot System on the Native 5 generates fluid action and consistent manufacturing tolerances. A four-way transport-friendly hourglass pocket clip adjusts to carry tip-up/tip-down and left or right-handed with a lanyard hole incorporated through the center of the clip where it attaches to the handle. The folder is fabricated with screw-together construction using larger sized torq screws that are easier to adjust and tighten. The Native 5 represents the maturation of American knifemaking capabilities in making everything sharper, smoother and guaranteed to provide performance and overall user comfort.

Was my favorite edc...
To my dismay, I recently just lost my second Spyderco native. My first one I lost will jumping out of an airplane while serving in the Army after having it in my pocket for 5 years. The most recent one I lost was doing I work as an escavator. Very disheartened, this is a fantastic knife with great orgonomic, awesome blade material, and a very manageable size to carry all day. If I didn't already have a few other good knives in my rotation I would be purchasing another one today. I will definitely be replacing it sometime in the near future.

Some Enchanted Evening …
… you will meet a stranger, across a crowded room. Yeah, it was like that. I had the Native 5 Salt on my, “Wish List,” but when I opened to Native 5 Salt’s web page, I spied this beauty in the side bar, and my eyes locked with her Spyder hole eye, it was love at first sight. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> She’s got points and curves in all the right places; and let’s face it, Vanadium and Niobium are just plain sexy, and she’s got it. I knew how her razor sharp Spyder edge would feel against my thumb, before I even laid hands on her. She opened up easily to me (almost, as easy as my old flame, PM3) and locked-up solid. Watching her, “Bushing Pivot System,” generating, “fluid action,” spiked my testosterone, and set my heart a flutter. Her black FRN body made her easy and comfortable to grip and hold. Native 5, S35VN, black on black is the perfect companion if you live in a state, or locale, that attempts to neuter their law-abiding citizens with restrictive 3” knife laws (support KnifeRights.org). >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Her, and I, have been together since we met. We are almost inseparable; we go everywhere together (except airports, courthouses, hospitals, schools, banks, polling places, and … support KnifeRights.org.). But, you know how some guys can be, having a bit of a roving eye, at times … and Native 5 Salt keeps sending me wanton, come-hither glances.
Editor's note: Easy, Tom! It's just a knife!
