Eickhorn Solingen

The Bellator is the first SYSTEMA knife, that Eickhorn Solingen and Andreas Weitzel - one of the leading SYSTEMA trainers - have jointly developed. Andreas Weitzel has contributed with his practical expertise in the field of Russian combat and self-defense. The knife is made of proven Böhler N695 stainless steel and comes with anti-slip G-10 grips. The shape of the handle has been influenced by the Cossack saber, also knows as the "Schaschka". The basic principle of the "Schaschka" is that it facilitates grip, draw and strike in a single, fluent movement. The large screws, the indentation in the middle part of the grip and the ergonomic finger geometry enable excellent handling and rapid change of hold. This makes the Bellator excellent for self-defense. This knife is also a superb choice for hunters, outdoor fans and survival specialists. For flexible carrying Eickhorn Solingen has chosen a Kydex sheath with Tek-Lok attachment.

The ‘One Knife’
Suppose you were shot down behind enemy lines, where you could have just one knife, what would your ‘one knife’ look like? I believe the Eickhorn Solingen Bellator Fixed 4.6” is that, ‘one knife.’ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Steel: Böhler N695 is an excellent compromise in stainless steel (hardness/stain resistance/toughness/sharpen-ability). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Blade: Drop point is proven design for strong point. Nice full primary grind, with some belly, promotes slicing. 4.6” is a good compromise size between a large Bowie/combat knife, and a small utility/tactical folder. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Grip: Slabs are ergonomic/comfortable in all grip styles. I like the curl-around, hawk’s head pommel (rear quillon), as this gives purchase/retention if the knife becomes stuck in strata, or hard downward thrusts, that could dislodge a knife from your hand. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sheath: From the picture, I didn’t think I would like the sheath, but I am finding everything about this knife well thought out. It slips from retention quietly. Of late, I have been slathering these ugly Kydex sheaths with rubber cement, wrapping in leather/suede, trimming to ¼” overhang on trailing edge, punching 1/8” from edge, and cross-whip stitching trailing edge with leather lace or artificial sinew (use small copper rivets to finish edge if you don’t like stitching). It gives the sheath a ruggedly handsome, non-glare, primitive/rustic look that blends well with natural environments, while retaining the good features of Kydex (retention/non-moisture wicking/quiet, etc.). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Performance/Overall: The narrow of depths blade (1”) makes this knife handy and agile as comparable to shorter blades, yet it has substantial spine to give it strength for heavy duty tasks. Fit and finish are superb. I consider this one of the nicest knives in my collection. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I’m 95% sure that, Eickhorn Solingen Bellator Fixed 4.6” is, ‘The,’ one knife. I just got to check-out a couple-a-hundred more, to be absolutely sure ; ) You know, I still get as excited about a new knife today, as I did as a child, longing for that Boy Scout knife in the back of a comic book. A new knife represents endless possibility. Thank you, Knife Center, for your fine offerings from the Fountain of Youth (or, the Forge of Youth, rather).

Completely satisfied
I am very happy with the knife . It is well made with very good attention to detail . While it may not be the best knife available for every individual purpose I believe it would do a satisfactory job for any task you set it . If you could only own one fixed blade knife I don't think you would go wrong with this one and I highly recommend it . as a long time customer of the Knife Center I would also like to take this opportunity to commend them on their high level of service .
