Description
KRKMAN910: MANIKOMIO Fixed Blade
Krudo Knives

Louis Krudo's father was the inspiration for this design as well as the name of MANIKOMIO. His father Salvadore, Sal for short, had an endearing nickname that only his closest friends were allowed to call him; "Manikomio". Sal had a great sense of humor, was highly energetic, willing to take on a friendly dare, was extremely brave and respected in his circles. Louis' father still influences his work and his life.

The MANIKOMIO Fixed Blade is the first fixed blade of this size that Louis Krudo has added to his line up in recent years. Since the first fixed blades - RAW, MMF, and HAIKU - Krudo has placed nearly all of his designing attention on folders. When he was asked to design a field knife, the MANIKOMIO was conceived. You will see the strong resemblance to the Krudo DRASTIK folder as the design of the Roman gladius sword inspired both blades.

The name MANIKOMIO refers to an insane asylum. This blade is insanely sleek and, with its all-black elements, insanely stealth. There is a hint of red accentuating the knife handle that is the signature Krudo Knives red. This double edge blade sports bilateral serrations with a centerline blood groove.

Krudo designed this knife with a slight radius to the scales, a double-sided guard, and a longer than average handle length. The black Kydex sheath is attached to a black nylon belt system which can be easily removed and replaced with the carry system of your choice. Use this knife in the field, camping, hunting and any outdoor activities where you need a serious blade. The MANIKOMIO is a dependable blade - all business, yet stylish.

All aspects of the production of Krudo Knives designs are overseen by Louis Krudo — relentlessly, meticulously, verging on OCD, mixed with odd hours and lots of hot coffee. The MANIKOMIO was built in China and hands-on, quality-controlled in Cave Creek, AZ, USA.

If I Told You, I’d Have to Bushcraft You
I first became aware of Krudo, Manikomio in Knives Illustrated Buyer’s Guide of Jan/Feb 2020. I was instantly attracted to the unmistakable Louis Krudo creative design and attractive styling. But, what really caught my attention was the placement of this knife in the Buyer’s Guide. It was on pg. 88, in the “Bushcraft” section of knives. What kind of sick/twisted, covert/black ops form of bushcrafting do the editors of Knives Illustrated practice? It wasn’t until I had purchased Manikomio in this KnifeCenter.com Sale, and went back and checked it out again in the Buyer’s Guide that I finally, got it. This is a “spear point” blade, and Manikomio would make a great spear point on the end of a spear, with excellent attachment/lashing points provided by the openings in the guard/quillion and pommel. So, not only is this a fine SD knife, but it may serve you well in a survival situation, too. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Arrived fairly sharp, but could use a dressing. Manikomio is 0.25” thick at the tang, but the thickness of the blade above the fuller (cannelure/blood groove) is only 0.2”, making the transition to a relatively thin 30 degree edge easily accomplished with the shallow hollow grind. Nice steel. Take it from Spinal Tap: 9Cr is one better than, 8Cr. The handle is comfortable enough, but somewhat thin. It stays stabilized in the hand well; not twisting round and hard to orient like a Fairbairn-Sykes Combat Knife. A good wrap of black athletic tape cures all forms of handle maladies. Sheath is adequate, but rides too high if IWB belt loops were attached, with 75% of knife riding above the belt, like an upside-down iceberg. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I will be back for more Krudo: Fine fit n finish, creative designs, beautiful styling, quality materials/craftsmanship, affordable confidence. Grab yourself a Manikomio for whatever kind of sick/twisted, covert/black ops form of bushcrafting you practice. You won’t be disappointed. …“No, Officer, this is a ‘bushcraft’ knife. Honest.”
