Kershaw Knives

Timeless Al Mar Knives designs meet Kershaw’s precision manufacturing and meticulous fit and finish to bring you updated versions of some of the most iconic Al Mar Knives.

The AM-4 features SpeedSafe assisted opening for quick and simple one-handed opening. Just pull back on the flipper or push on the thumb stud. The blade is quality 8Cr13MoV stainless steel with a handsome black finish and a top swedge. The front handle scale is G10 — crowned and polished for a smooth feel and classy look. The back is pure steel with a sturdy frame lock to keep the blade in position until you release it. The AM-4 also features a deep-carry pocket clip with Al Mar Knives red logo emblem and—for an extra measure of visual interest — they used red standoffs.

In addition to a dedication to the original designs, Kershaw kept two things in mind when creating these exciting Al Mar Knives: quality and value. Kershaw is using top-notch materials including top-of-the-line blade steel and real G10 scales. Plus, they’re paying special attention to details. Yet they’re keeping the prices down on these classic knives — which means these brilliant Al Mar Knives are now readily available to a new generation of knife enthusiasts.

  • Flipper - The "flipper" is a protrusion on the back of the blade that the user can pull back on, or flip, in order to move the blade easily out of the handle.
  • SpeedSafe - Assists you to open any SpeedSafe knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumb stud or pull back on the flipper, built into many Kershaw best sellers.
  • Frame Lock - A portion of the handle (the knife frame) moves behind the blade to lock it into position during use. This is a safety feature of the knife.
  • Single Position - The pocket clip is in a fixed position on the knife handle; usually it is positioned for tip-down, right-handed carry, though this may vary.

Cons: None
Excellent build quality at this price point
This is yet another example of what Kershaw seems to do so well: producing goods of almost incredible quality, given the price point. This folder Is nice and tight. No side-to-side blade slop at all, not even the slightest amount of play, even with the blade only halfway open. The assisted open works like a charm, and the knife is big enough so that my size XL hands still get a great grab on the handle - all four fingers are wrapped around, without my pinky hanging off.The G10 Scale on one side is made to look like carbon fiber, and it's pretty convincing. One complaint they would have with this knife is that the G 10 is a bit slick, and some people might even want to rough it up a little bit with some sandpaper. The frame lock is nice and thick, and engages a large percentage of the blade tang. Nice solid lock-up.The blade Is not premium steel, however, it's fine for an EDC. It's also an excellent slicer ; the blade doesn't hang up on anything , and the grind is nice and even. Very little resistance when cutting through something. Also, it was nice and hair-shaving sharp out of the box. This is a nice-looking, deep-pocket carry, very lightweight gentleman's knife. A really good EDC. It's a regular In my rotation, and I carry high-and production knives all the time (ZT, higher-end Spyderco, etc.).A good "guy" holiday gift.
