Made me a Benchmade Fanboy

Just got my 550-1 today, and I'm in love. Was a little scared at 1st hearing about BM's QC issues but my knife is perfect- centering, grind, sharpness, the works. This is my 1st Benchmade but definitely not my last. If you're like I was, wondering if almost $200 for a knife was worth it. With Benchmade it is, I'm in construction so I'm gonna but this beauty through the paces, then send it back to benchmade for a sharpening, and tune up. Then I'll be back to update.

Very satisfied with both the knife and the service. Five Stars!!!

I've owned several griptilians. They're great knives but this one is a step above the rest. The main reason I purchased it was to try out the CPM-20CV steel. The sheepsfoot blade has a saber grind with a nice light stonewash. Mine came out of the box properly centered with an excellent factory edge. The action is new-knife stiff but I know from experience it will smooth out over time. It's also a tiny bit heavier than the standard knife and doesn't make the "clickety-clack" sound when you open and close it. I attribute this to the solid, G10 scales. I also like the addition of a deep-carry pocket clip. It rides lower and is just as accessible. If the CPM-20V proves to be as good as the reviews, I would say this is a solid purchase and would highly recommend picking one up from KnifeCenter. By the way...I ordered the knife Thursday afternoon and had it in hand by lunchtime Saturday. Five Stars to the KC shipping department...you guys rock!!!

Amazing Craftsmanship

The quality and craftsmanship on this knife is utterly amazing. Best folder I've ever held. The G10 handles are not quite as "grippy" as the finer checkered G10 handles of an Emerson or Spyderco (as expected), but they have a better grip than the stock Griptillian handles. My only complaint with this knife is that it is engraved as a first production run (xxx of 1000) and now I will be forced to buy yet another identical knife for my EDC carry! In regards to EDC, this knife is surprisingly lightweight and it meets the 3 1/2 inch concealed carry legal limit for my state. This knife deploys fast (super smooth action). The only thing that would make pocket deployment faster is the Emerson wave feature, but I refuse to take a Dremel tool to this amazing blade. It looks like zip ties are in the future for me.

Great EDC

I love this knife. I have a high end benchmades, ZT's, spyderco's, and kershaw exclusives and this is my favorite knife to carry. I actually meant to buy the mini grip, but I'm glad I didn't. This is a great knife and what this knife should have been originally.

Very Nice EDC

I use this blade foe EDC. Fit and finish on mine were spot on! Perfect centering and grind. Excellent action too. I love the G-10 scales, which feel great, fill the hand well, and generally feel more sturdy than the FRN ones.Additionally, it's a bit thinner in the pocket than the FRN versions. If you're on the fence about this model, don't be. Get it.
