Pros: Blade Sharpness, Pocket Clip, Handle Feel, Handle Material, Blade Material, Weight, Ease of Opening, Overall Quality
Serge Panchenko design..AWESOME knife
Serge Panchenko is a custom knife maker now using collaborations with Boker, Spyderco and Fox to bring his designs to more favorable price points. He still has control over materials, blade steels and quality control. This knife is the Bean Gem2, it is a slip joint and 2” blade. It was primarily targeted to Europe and those USA states that have specific legal rules for EDC. This knifes design is amazing, it is a slip joint..with no back spring. It uses detents and ball bearings and it works great. It opens easily and snaps into place, absolutely no blade play up or down or side to side, BANK VAULT solid. In this model he uses 440c steel. I believe he made sure the HT was tops and that IMO makes 440c an excellent EDC steel. It takes a sharp edge, mine cut single ply TP and a tomato skin, with just the weight of the blade. It is also quite easy to sharpen. I also wanted to mention the great customer service from KC. I use KC for 90% of my purchases because I like the way they do business, pricing, product explanations, returns and mailing. They use the Postal Service, usually $3.99 vs $7.99+ from other sites. I ordered on a Monday and received my purchase at 1230 on Wednesday. That’s to California, great service. If you want a Serge knife or need a small knife that is unobtrusive, this is a great model at a great KC price.
