Pros: Materials, Finish, Overall Quality, Handle Material, Blade Material, Blade Sharpness
Outdoor and carving perfection
Got this as a gift about 10 years ago and have put it to good use ever since. The handle shape provides and excelent and stable grip while carving and supports the use of many different grips and carving "techniques" so to say. While it has a smooth texture the bone and birch still remains gripy when wet. Ive been sitting for ours doing both heavy and fine carvings and never had any problems with blisters at all and with the blades slight angle to the handle it gives you more precision while using force. Full tang construction makes it durable and adds to its solid feel. The leather sheath is functional and holds the knife securely, but swells when soaked (not that you would ever want this to happen but if it does you might want to loosen the knife a bit to avoid it getting stuck), besides that its solid and durable but nothing special. The laminated steel works beautifully, it takes on a sharp edge with ease and will hold it for many hours of hard work and I useually just end up sharpening it once a year (as most!). Never had to maintain the bladesteel itself as its almost imune to rust even if beeing kept in high moisture enviroments for days and (to my shame) spent a whole Swedish winter in a windshelter out in the woods. Scandnavia grind is way to go as this knife will prove to you when preparing food, bushcrafting and carving in the great outdoors. As you might tell from this review I love the product, good job Helle, Norway.
