Great knife

Yes it will rust if abused. Don't get one unless you plan to learn how to care for carbon steel knives. You CAN sharpen this like a razor and it holds it's edge fairly well. Easily maintainable, cuts well. cheap, lasts forever.

60 Years Old and Still Going Strong

I use one of these that belonged to my mother. It's still going strong. I use it at least every day or two. As with all carbon steels, this knife must be cared for. Clean and dry it after use. The blade is a good utility shape and can be easily touched up on a stone or by file. The stone will give the superior edge, but for a knife of this type, a file is usually good enough for fruits, vegetables and packaged meats. You could certainly dress out a deer with this blade, but you might have to stop a time or two to touch up the blade. For everyday kitchen utility work, the blade should last weeks or months without need of sharpening. Know what work you want a knife to perform, then choose the appropriate blade shape, blade steel, and blade length. And learn how to take care of it before you whine about it rusting.

This knife has lasted for 30 years!

My grandmother used these knives and she taught me how to take care of them - store them and use them. I bought this same paring knife 30 years ago and passed it down to my daughter who is still using it. As time and use does with all things the handle is about to give way so I am buying two of these one for her and one for me. This is my all time favorite paring knife. I say that having owned knife sets such as J. Hinkle and other high end knife sets. The reason I like it because of they way it fits my hand and you can actually sharpen it. Best knife I have ever owned !

Paring Knife

It's a nice solid little knife but with price and shipping charge it's too expensive. I have much larger Old Hickory's that came just a couple bucks more. And it came dull.
