Pros: Sheath/Scabbard, Handle Material, Blade Material, Materials, Weight, Overall Quality, Finish
Cons: Blade Sharpness, None
I was Issued this in the USAF
I used this knife for its intended purpose, survival. Yes, the blade was a bit dull when issued and I tried to hone it with the included stone, to no avail. The stone is the junk part of the set but, it's better than nothing. However, upon obtaining an Arkansas Stone, I got from a Buddy, the Blade became sharper than those stupid Ginsue knives. The leather sheath suited the knife just fine; I have no idea what the other reviewer meant about screws inside the sheath. The only thing I did to alter the knife and sheath was to sharpen the knife, of course, dye the leather handle black, used saddle soap on the sheath then Murphy's Oil Soap for an extra GP (general purpose) and lastly applied Sno-Seal to totally waterproof the sheath. The knife served me well and I was in just about every type of environment, i.e., Jungle, Desert, Mountains, et cetera for over 15 years. If used for its intended purpose, this knife is just fine; if need be and you are trained, you can fight with it. There really is nothing wrong with this knife and I only gave it 4 stars because of the stone and the knife being hard to initially hone.
