Buy it!
Ten years ago I bought one of these after reading an interview with one of Norway's best chefs. He said it was the most versatile knifes he knew. He added that if he was just allowed to own one knife, this would be it. I was not disappointed. I still have it, it is still great, but I just bought one more due to the low prices of The Knifecenter. So now I have two of these great knives. I only need one, but they are just that great. In Norway, it is marketed as a cake knife (where it performs excellent). On this site, it is marketed as a bread knife (again, excellent). I also use it for meat, salads, opening vacuum packaging and many other tasks in the kitchen (and it cuts like a hot knife through butter).

Great Tool!
We learned about Forschner Knives ten years ago from our Chef/Restaurantuer son. He told us Forschner Knives are the best combination of price and quality available. He gave us our first, a 9 inch Chef's Knive and it has served us well over a decade of use. We recently got a home bread maker and quickly learned that bread slicing is a special situation. We chose this tool for the same reasons mentioned above - value, utility and reliable durability. We have been using the knife regularly since getting it and it lives up to it's promise. It arrived very sharp and allows homemade bread to be sliced cleanly and in thinner slices than possible with non-specialized tools. I highly recommend this knife!

A-1 customer service and prompt delivery! Perfect!!
I bought this knife as a gift for a friend since I have one in my own kitchen and find I use it for almost everything bigger than a paring knife's needs and short of a chef's knife. I look upon this knife as an essential piece and recommend it to everyone. You can cut tomatoes perfectly and thinly slice meats, as an example of its versatility. I love this knife!!

Victorinox Forschner Bread Knife w/ 10.25" Stainless Steel Blade
I had bought this same knife back in the 1990's, was pleased with it then and had it re-sharpened but not the same as the original of course as expected with wear and tear. I was pleased to see that the same knife was available. I bought the same knife again and use this knife to cut bread and it works like a charm. It's curved design lets it slice through bread so easily. I know a flat straight bread knife would not give me the same results.

No-nonsense bread knife
I got this knife to replace a bread knife I've had for many decades, which was finally too dull. The America's Test Kitchen tv show on PBS ranked it the top bread knife, surpassing knives costing twice and three times as much. I agree; no frills, very sharp, competent. One Con: it wants to drift to the left as it cuts, and as I am left-handed it wants to produce slices that are thinner at the bottom than the top. I have to consciously fight the knife as I slice through the loaf.
